Hot NOLA has the pleasure of featuring prolific southern Louisiana author Skye turner who also writes as Sloane Nicole.

How long have you been writing? What got you started?

I’ve written since I was in middle school. But I wrote my first novel, Alluring Turmoil, in 2013. When I was growing up, I journaled a lot. I kept a diary. And I found that writing was really good therapy.

Which of your books was your favorite to write?

I don’t really have a favorite. I love all of my books because they’re all personal to me in different ways. But the book that “has my heart” is probably Alluring Temptation. I just love the character of Liam.

Which of your books would you recommend to a reader that hasn’t read you before?

Alluring Turmoil is a great place to start. It’s the beginning of my journey.

When did you first call yourself a writer?

I suppose I always called myself a writer. But when I hit “publish” on that first book, it finally “felt” real.

Which social media account do you use the most and tell us why you enjoy it?

My facebook reader group and my Discord channel are where I’m the most “myself”. Though if anyone follows me anywhere, they’ll get the real me. I’m not into being fake.

Are you from the New Orleans area, if so let us know what you enjoy about the city?

Of course. I’m a Louisiana native. NOLA used to be one of my very favorite places.

Are you a vet? Do you write about vets or active duty military? Which branch?

I am not a veteran. Though I do write military romance.

“A lot of my characters are inspired by real life people. Both the good and the bad. We’ll leave it at that.”

If you could spend a day with another popular author, whom would you choose?

Gena Showalter, Nicholas Sparks, Jessica Park, Amy Harmon, and Zora Neale Hurston. I can’t pick just one. But I think that would be an amazing dinner party.

Have you modeled a character after someone you’ve known, you want to tell us about him or her? The real person and the character.

LOL. A lot of my characters are inspired by real life people. Both the good and the bad. We’ll leave it at that.

Have you ever had writer’s block and how did you overcome it?

I “quit” writing for 2.5 years. I was in a serious car accident and my whole focus was on recovering and healing. But I was very “burnt out” and thinking about quitting when it happened. I honestly thought I was done. And I was okay with that. In a way, the accident was the best thing to happen to me. I allowed me to refocus on myself and find my strength and my passion.

Are you a panster or a plotter?

I’m 1000% a panster. I have no clue what’s happening until it happens. I’m just as surprised as my readers.

If you sold your rights would you rather a series or movie made of your books?

Probably a series. But I’d want creative input.

What genres do you write in?

Adult Romance. Mommy Porn. I write all across the romance board though. I don’t like to be put into a box.

Tell us about your upcoming release.

Lately I’ve been releasing a series of Spicy Romantic Comedy Short Stories. They tend to focus on holidays and involve alcohol. They seem to be a hit.
